Description

Canon 10D + Sigma 28-300mm Hyperzoom (at 81mm) ISO 800 f4.5 1/350 Firstly, thank you for all your positive messages yesterday about the start of this walk...to be honest I didn't think anyone would be interested...and I imagine after a few photos that might well be the case ;) This shot shows the first angel you come across in the cemetery. She stands slightly mournfully amongst all the smaller (and often much more recent) graves. The sun was hidden at this time, and her grey hand was raised at the grey sky...made me shiver even though I was wrapped up. And in the distance I heard the sound of a tiny windchime... tomorrow...find out what the windchime means...

This angel seems very much a part of this journey- her raised hand seems to be gesturing for us to move on and bear witness somehow. She is beautiful.

The picture is beautiful.. like no angel I've seen...very 'steely' almost beside the old tree (nice colour)- a heavenward gesture I see!

Striking... Love angels...this one is real. She knows and I'll trust her... Even if I do get scared, she'll cover me with her silky wings and I'll feel no fear, only love... Thank you Stephen, you showed me something I began to forget..

Ooooh, i like this statue. If i had one of those huge country driveways, i'd have her at the start!!!
Hon, this is a lovely shot, but i'd have changed the angle slightly myself, so her hand and wing didn't intersect. But that's just me...

I love images of angels. Isn't it amazing how someone had the talent and vision to carve such a soft, beautiful form from such a hard, dark chunk of rock? This angel is almost identical to the masthead of St. Michael's Hospital, where my husband works. Legend has it that a group of nuns found this statue in ruins, restored what they could of it and has resided in the main entrance of the hospital since... check out www.stmichaelshospital.com and you'll see the angel I'm referring to. Excellent work Stephen!

This angel sculpture is gorgeously carved. Her hand pose seems to tell "come with me I'll lead you up there" A wonderful shot, Stephen! More please...
