Description

I don't know the english name for this insect, but directly translated from swedish it would be Carpenter. I know for a fact, that this one is a female, since I managed to catch them in the act of making little Carpenters :-) I only managed to get the one shot of that before the male scooted away. This is shot on a pine tree that fell in a storm last autumn. And this is probably were she will stay, until she is ready to lay her eggs under the bark of this tree. The impressive thing about these bugs, are their antennas. This bug itself is about 2 cm, but its antenna span is about 20 cm...so they give quite an impressive appearance! :-) And as a curiosity...when you pet them :-) they bob their head up and down while wiggeling their antennas making a sound like a squeaky toy :-) I want to thank you who commented on my last picture...and for the ones of you that woundered what kind of equipment I use..here it is... Nikon Coolpix 5700. Raynox snap on macrolens (I think the only shot I have posted, shot with that on is "The last one out" ). A bag of peas. Lots of fun...and patience. Photoshop. Thanks for viewing...all comments are welcome :-)
