Description

I have probably successfully developed one of the longest render time planets ever :-( Can anyone shed any light on tile render bucket size and sub-prim threshold because my RAM can't handle renders of this moster properly and tile rendering causes problems with displacements? I have tried several settings but without a perfect render. There is still some work to do on beach areas and I don't like the way some of those higher displacements look from lower POVs - purplish area on the right for example. I'll have to adjust materials. Funghi now has latitudes so you can travel out of these huge displacement areas into open areas with more water.

Sexy, and Bold! Subtle expressions, yet sharp curves, and impressive color blends. I enjoy this work very much :) I give ***** rateing, Nice stuff :)

STOP teasing me man! Release the planet, I promise to update if you make changes ;-) Seriously though, the latitudes are what kills your render time when you add in those huge displacements. I think you should let me do a few test renders haha!

Good... I like it. The rocks and such are all very nicely done... though it lacks a bit of realism somehow... Could I suggest some sharp shadows? Well, not really 'shart' as in ray-traced sharp, but you know what I mean. For the rest it sure does look neat... great work.

Great work! As it was said latitude blends is the killer for the render especially if you have big displacements. For the Bucket size setting see my recent post in the Forum(I just posted it a couple days before). You can check out how the different settings influence the big displacement renders.

Ironic as this may seem I am actually adding latitudes to simplify the planet as a whole so certain areas have terrains removed. In these areas rending is quicker because there is less displacement. At the moment there are no extra terrains or materials added in these regions.

The impression of these growing masses is amazing again. Great lighting. It's maybe a bit to say that but... Thanks for showing your work!
