I've always loved art, designing and creating and first tried my hand at 3D graphics in 2001. I started out with trueSpace, and now I also use Maya and Softimage|XSI, together with Photoshop and a few other CG programs. I enjoy modeling and helping other artists in graphics forums. You can find some tutorials and other resources at my site, Render-Lab.com. If you'd like to contact me via e-mail, drop me a line at Sue3d@render-lab.com.

Very nice work Sue, As always a pleasure to look at, the simpleness of the image underlaid by the understated detail. I always learn something new or am inspired from your images.

Thank you, Marcel. :) Yes, it's Egyptian. This storage chest was in the tomb of King Tutankhamen/Tutankhamon/Tutankhamun. There are so many different spellings of his name, I figured it's easier to just use the King Tut version. (If I remember correctly, the ancient Egyptians didn't indicate vowels in their hyeroglyphs, so it's basically a guess how exactly his name was spelled.) I think the chest opens on the top. I saw another Egyptian chest in a book with similar knobs on it and the book said that they tied a rope around those knobs in order to secure the lid. The photo of this chest was in a book, too, that's what I based this model on.
