Description

this is a more finalized version otf the HP Lovecraft illustration for the Mountains of Madness story. I've taken into account all your comments and appreciate the feedback! It's helped! The original illo is 4k X 4K in size and will be a poster. All objects in this illo (except the hand drawn figure) are lattices and one terrain for the ice. A little post work in PS for mood and highlights. Thanks again everyone! Chuck Carter

Well, much better! :) Now i like the ice! Very good cloud thing and mist... Only one sugestion: i feel something wrong, when sky is BlackWhite, but light are very colorfull. Maybe some red gleam in far end will change that, i dont know...

Chuck, looking at your images convinces me that you're one of the few artists that I know who put the Bryce images to the higher level, to say the least. I've worked with Bryce for quite long myself and I know such achievement doesn't come easily. Great work all around! :-)

I knew it was Mountains of Madness before I saw your comments. Excellent, well done.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Now what could make this a better image? Don't hold anything back - give it to me straight...what does it need to take it to the next level? Armands - I'll see what I can do to get more color in the far reaches of the illo. This is only a start - a good start but I have a long way to go. So anyone with constructive suggestions is welcomed.

I Had to come back for another look. Much as I LOVE! this image (and since you asked), I prefer the upper two thirds of the pic, probably because its more moody and monochromatic. The lower third seems more sci-fi and less supernatural horror (Lovecrafts term for his genre). Id like it even better if you stayed with the Giger-like blue/gray/brown/black colour scheme throughout the image. This is So evocative as is. As far as Im concerned, its a True 10.

I was extremely impressed with this work! I must have sat here and looked at this for 10 minutes. Very nice and a true 10!

Ok closest to the top of the image the sky should show some color, Something more than the the current flat white. Let it fade to a uniform gray in the distance as it does but it could use some color at the very top. Depending how you go with the color, you can slant the atmospheric mood of the image. http://www.critical-depth.com/cgi-bin/idd/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1332&FORUM_ID=15&CAT_ID=9&Topic_Title=Duck%21+Thunderbolts+in+a+high+speed+pass&Forum_Title=3D+Artwork Attached is a link that has a sky I can refer to for an example. The predominant color is the white yet even the white is not a white rather a sligh tinge of a tan in small areas. Also there is some steel in the open part of the sky.
