Sun is setting, the sky is going to glowing blue. It's a beautiful sunset. The Cowboy has put in a hard, hot, dusty day. Bone weary and tired he heads home. Both "Larry" and he had one of those bad day's. They found the strays over in "never get out" Canyon. 2 broke their legs and had to be put down. Repaired 6 broken wires in the fence. Cleaned out the water hole for the cattle. He found sign that someone had gotten light handed with the loop and maybe took 7 cattle. He trailed them to the triple bar C. Talked to old Man Calous and got the cattle back. Big "so sorry's", mistakes can happen. Did some repair work on the old windmill, and greased the bearings. Checked out the south range and found a dead calf, must be a cat around. He followed the sign and found the cat. He got a shot off just as it jumped. Knocked him off the horse and bite him in the arm before it died. Bite wasn't bad but now he has to chase the horse down. We all know how a cowboy loves to walk in them boots. He found "larry" and fished out a sugar cube from his pocket. This got "Larry's" attention. He say down and chewed on a few biscuits from breakfast, washed it down with water. The rest of the day would be spent bringing the stray up to the north range. Yep it was a rough, dirty, hot, dusty day. Right now he is just thinking about getting to the bunk house, getting cleaned up and getting a little sleep, he has the night watch on the herd.
