Description

OH, NO... ONE MORE SUNSET! That's what I usually think when I see a sunset picture in the galleries. That's also the reason why I never post sunset pictures. Well, now I have to say "almost" never, I'm afraid. The reason why I am posting this is that I am so happy with it. I have developed the same RAW photo twice, for highlights and for shadows. And I combined the two. That's it, no other photoshop trick or adjustment. I'm happy because I managed to keep the creamy tones of the sky and the luscious green of grasses in digradating shadows. I am working on this technique it's a while but never succeeded so well until this picture, so I finally decided to post it in spite of my hostility against sunsets. (that's not true: I love sunsets and made hundreds of pics) ;-) Well who knows... maybe I keep enjoying this and make a series of it... the "oh no one more sunset" series... ;-) I am back to this forum after a few weeks hyatus due to heavy work pressure. Hope to be more present in the near future. Thanks for viewing! :-)

You succeeded very well! Getting the sun and the foreground together in one picture means usually the contrast will run out of range, but here lots of details remain visible, just as the eye perceives it!

You postwork gives this one an almost unreal mood (to me). Great image (even if i know that "oh no"-feeling all to well) ;-)

Actually, I don't consider this post-work. I consider it the digital equivalent of printing in a real darkroom using a mask for some areas. I didn't even alter colors or gamma after the "print" was done ;-)
