Canon 10D + Sigma 28-300mm Hyperzoom (at 115mm) ISO 400 f5.6 1/750 Nature swarming over death...sucking it dry...and turning it into life again. A circle, definitely...carrying on for all eternity in a beautiful dance.

Really beautiful picture! I like the differences between the graves and crucifixes of our two countries. Well, in my opinion, this picture shows the living side, not the dead. Very well seen!

Your right about the circle of life. It is a never ending process. Perfect sentiment for this imagery.

I always found the concept of burial to be contridictory to the circle of life, as it were. When we pass away, we're flesh..fading flesh. Deteriorating. Im sure its good to have something to recall our loved ones by..a stone, a mausoleum. But do we really need to preserve this body? Why not return it to that which gave it a soul to begin with. So yes, I cheer at nature slowly reclaiming herself :)

i love this whole series of photos. it sounds corny, but they convey an atmosphere of both age and timelessness somehow.

Awesome shot! You have such an amazing eye for detail. I have a Celtic Cross very similar to this hanging in my front entrance. Great light and nice saturation. Brilliant!

Sorry, I don't see the circle of life (except in the case of watching a live someone breathed to life by God who is our life) growing old over a long period of time. Or maybe the floral health or the lushness of a maggot or compost?.) Reincarnation sucks & Nazi's gave the cross a spin. The inevitability of death itself has it's own questions. You found a fancified concrete version of the answer to these questions. Like a shield for the ancient Celts.

Hey, I just bought me a book about celtic design yesterday... as I love it so much! Also my kids love it... my son even wears a wee celtic cross made of silver on a necklace. It looks similar to this one :o) Thanks for sharing this brilliant shot, Stephen!

Some would call it 'danse macabre' but not you! :D The composition here really echoes your words... Wonderful.
