Description

One day last week when I was watching Oprah, I had a thought to do a Digital Painting of her when she was a child and of her now. That day, a wonderful lady told her that she was beautiful. She had never been told that before. Oprah spoke about how this woman's words had changed her life...about how important it was to encourage those who come across our path in this world and how important it is to thank each and every one of them. Those words made me think about how encouraging you all have been to me...how patient you have been with me lately due to my health issues, and how I am and will always be forever in your debt. I don't believe I would have grown so much as an artist without your constant encouragement and your friendship. So, this portrait is as much for you as it is for Oprah and the way she continually gives back to the world above and beyond what was so freely given to her. The Photos I referenced for the Pencil Sketches and the Digital Painting are found at: http://www.geocities.com/rainforest/1078/oprah/oprah.html Thank you for stopping by. Your comments are most welcome and play a large part in helping me me grow as an artist and as a human being. God Bless you all! Have a great day!...Cheryl

My sister watches Ophrah each day now that she is retired. This is a long way from "Murder She Wrote" and the Dick Van Dyke show of the same ilk. Your image speaks worlds about the government servant and the way America has come back from Angela Davis and the riots in the cities that characterized the 40's and the 60's. Very downtown and up to the minute without being the news.

Beautiful work Cheryl. You have captured the warmth of Oprah's spirit and heart. She is indeed a beautiful woman...and has much inner beauty as well. She is an excellent role-model for all young women. You have done a most excellent image and tribute to her.

Awesome imagery and I'm sorry I'm late getting to this one. I love how you can see the older Oprah in the young one, which as an artist, shows great skill in being able to get both to look right and recognizable...

What a wonderful concept of presenting one of America's best known if not most beloved icons - as a "Then and Now" presentation what this does for me is remind me that no matter the eventual outcome in life, we were all little children. You have certainly captured Oprah (Harpo) in the eyes and her brilliant smile. The portrait of her as a child is simply precious and excellently painted. Your use of colors have progressed enormously Cheryl and your blending technique is simply beautiful. All my very best to you and my prayers are with you. A heartfelt vote!
