Description

Tomorrow, espionage will be fought on a macro scale. Scientists turned to nature for inspiration when designing miniature bugs that will fly around collecting information, listening and watching, even performing assassinations. This one is collecting DNA samples to confirm it has the correct target and is inserting a transponder. My entry (more than likely) for May challenge "Mother Technology". Model created from primitives in Bryce and rendered at full ambience with DOF. Fake HDRI sphere for the leaves (a tree in my garden) and one radial. Very little post other than minor sharpening and slight level adjustment. There was some mention in the forum that I should make the human skin more realistic (add hair etc), which is a good idea, but I like the abstractness of it. Doesn't detract from the bug. But that's just today. I may change my mind tomorrow. Thanks for viewing. Update 6th June 2004 - Thanks for all the votes and making me the winner.

your use of DOF shows off your mind boggling artistry with modeling extremely well. I love the "skin" of the mosquito just as it is. very inspiring work!
