Description

Voice Memo EC1243 Febuary 16th 2141 The sprawl of Los Angeles 2024. Nobody's really sure where it begins, where it ends. The sea of grime, dirt and metal spreads along the coast; an unending sea of humanity crammed and boxed in, suffocating and dark, and ultimately one of the most dangerous places to be. The city ceased being Los Angeles years ago, it's only known as The Sprawl these days, most people here can't remember when they last saw blue sky, the rest have never seen it. Five years since I was last here, five years since I lost myself in the anonymity of The Sprawl, five years since I left NewsCorp24 and London behind me. I spent three of those five years here, it nearly killed me twice, I swore I'd never come back. I'd only been back in London a few months, only enough time to reacquaint myself with the gleaming city of London above the tunnels and crowded depths of TUBEville. A few months and I'm back in The Sprawl. I've got to be out of my mind. If I was, this would be easier to accept, but I'm here because I have to be, because somebody who helped me needs my help, a friend in need if you will. Yeah, even in The Sprawl you can have friends, a place teeming with people who would sooner stab you in the heart; even here there can be people worth taking risks. I'm still back, back in The Sprawl, I only hope it isn't third time lucky for this place. --- Long time in the works this one, got as far as processor/memory would allow. The only postwork was the rain in Photopaint. Final render was Vue, but it's more Poser than Vue due to the only Vue being the actual render. Nice Blade Runner feel to it. Great composition and lighting.

Terrific image... but that storyline is simply awesome! The tilted camera angle does a lot to help with the uneasy tension of this piece. Great work on the rain.

Wow! This is pure William Gibson!! I love the PoV and the use of blurring to suggest depth of field. I also love the monochromatic feel of the work. Hmmm. Perhaps you might try another street scene with a bit more neon and a few relective surfaces?
