I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

Love the river...esp your work on the water!

First off, your sky and river are both just gorgeous. I'm going to be a little nit picky though. I hate to say it, but your grass doesn't really look like grass, more like green rock. Also, I know I'm a stickler for this, but it looks unnatural how there is no wet spot between the water and the dry grass. If you gave a hint of erosion, or even just wetness, it would improve this already great image 10 fold. Also, under the water would never be able to be grass assuming the river has been there for at least a little while. Ok, I'm done

Bob, we all love you and your work... but I confess: I have to agree with sanosoke. Don't bite off my head, but that's what I think. All other aspects are still xlt, as the whole composition, colouring, water, atmo...!

Beautiful terrain i love sky.....well done

This is a gorgeous image. I especially like your colors. I would move the sun slightly off center for composition, though you don't want to move it far because of the shadows you want. As for your surface, the Verde Valley looks mostly brown with clumps of dark green bushes. There would be taller trees near the water. It might require postwork.
