Description
A great hero has fallen...
He led his troops into the fray without fear or hesitation...
By his sacrifice the victory was secured...
Now all that remains is to sing his song...
To tell the tale...
To build the monument in his honor...
But what of him who followed his command even unto death? What of that one whose name we do not know and whose face we have never seen? Somewhere there is a mother who brought him into this world and kissed his cheeks and held him close when he skinned his knees. For her there is only the grief of losing her son as the world goes by seemingly without care. True, if his end was noble, it does give some worth to his death and a certain credit to his life, but it can never fill the empty space in her arms or in her heart... and so she grieves. And if our hearts be not made of stone, we grieve along with her so that she may not grieve alone.
Even now, mothers and fathers are losing their sons and daughters as they fight for our freedom. Let us not forget them now, or ever. Let us live our lives as if this life they have purchase with their blood is worth something more that our self-indulgence. In whatever way we can, let us give back to the world around us and in so doing say "We remember and we honor you. Thank you for this gift called freedom." Let us live in a way that says not only to the soldiers, but also to their loved ones who now grieve, "Your sacrifice was not in vain."

A great image along with some great words. I agree we can not ever forget them or what they have done for us.

Excellent work George.

She is gorgeous, and the message is very beautiful. So much talk these days is downright treasonous and threatens the lives of our troops because it encourages the enemy. Freedom is worth sharing; we should never hoard it.
