Description

This image is one of many we're doing for the recreation of Wroxeter Roman City (Viriconium) in Shropshire, England. It's part of a tour we call 'Virtual Vistas', which uses photos, articles, CGI stills, animations and CGI QuickTime VR's. We've already opened a tour covering an Iron Age Hill Settlement so we thought we'd come a little more up-to-date this time. When you look at these images just remind yourself that these people weren't Romans, they were Celtic speaking Britons - Cornovii tribe. (Even the soldiers could be locals or from the Germanic tribes). It was THEY who built Wroxeter - with Roman blessing and money - and THEY who decided to dress and live like Romans. The image is WIP, but thought it had come along far enough to show. Modelling and prep by my esteemed colleague phurst Finessing and lighting by moi Roman Legion costumes by Christopher A. Johnson at DAZ Figures are Michael 2 from DAZ Thanks in advance for comments. VH

Excellent modelling and historical perspective! True the assimilation of "local natives" into the Empire was an important aspect of the Roman expansion...ironically it was also a part of the downfall. I'm glad we all share the passion for history. Well Done.
