A Tiger for Mea (Photoshop) www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php

I have been drawing since I was 11, some 33 years ago.
My 6th grade teacher, Mr. Knoss, was a great artist and I greatly admired his illustrations. He encouraged me to pursue my artistic interests at a crucial time in my development.
My High School art teacher "Vern", was also a great influence. He always challenged me to try different things.
I was lucky that my parents were very supportive of my interest in art. I studied at The Minneapolis College of Art and Design (1986-1990). Where I was humbled by many great artists that were far more talented than I. There it was that I rounded out my fine art skills, and then chose to major in Media Arts. Studied film, video and sound. Learned all the skills needed to shoot, direct, edit those mediums.
While pursuing a Media Arts major, I discovered computer graphics, still in it's infancy. This is where I came to an Epiphany. Here was a new medium, that incorporated everything I had previously learned into one new medium. Not only that, but it had new dimensions, interactivity, feedback, randomness, AI. I was hooked.
The next 17 years I learned and grew with the industry. Learning everything from how to create and manipulate digital imagery and create animations, to interface design and interactive authoring. My day job is an Information Architect, a fancy term for software interface design.
A few years back, my wife and I hit on some difficult times (As many people do) and it was during a very dark time in our lives that I discovered what became Renderosity, Initially I posted work, merely as a way to get myself back into the discipline of making new art.
I was delighted to find a world-wide community of talented artists, exchanging ideas and art!! I was thrilled! I have learned so much from you, and your art has brightened up my world. I am lucky to have made some great friends here, and I aim to do tributes to all of you!

Hehe, an interesting use of "transparency" in a dark, jiffy, Darth Vader sort of a way, sort of a way. Yessuh, "Man is an animal designed to live in a Polis"d'accord....and, who was it, also some Frenchman or other who made poster painting what it is today....all Greek to me, hoho.

(Same comment I put on his:) George Carlin is my hero. ;-) Doesn't mean I think we aren't doing any damage. We are; but yeah, Earth will get over it [eventually]. We might not be around to see it, mind you...

And I totally agree with u!! It makes me so angry to think about it! Human beings are the virus of this earth! As for the "freedom" u have in America, I don't agree on this point at all! It's just an illusion! When u can't say the word "president" without being filed with the FBI I don't call that freedom! Also, my last post was removed from the gallery! It represented a pair of hands on a pair of breasts! Nothing dirty in it at all, just a 'lil cheecky but obviously too much for the good American moral! I don't call that freedom either!! Back to ur image, u did an amazing work with this!! Fantastic animation and very powerful statement!! I just wish u could be heard and followed by all! Great work Eric! :)

I want to clarify something, I am not angry, and certainly not at Captor. He is entitled to his opinion, as am I. I just get tired of seeing people dump trash on our lawn, throw cigarette butts out the window of their cars, etc. Every time I have been in Germany, the streets are clean, my cousins finish a cigarette, and carry the butt until they find a garbage can! We need to show respect for our environment, that's all I'm about. Locally some big business is trying to get approval to bury radioactive waste near a big important river, they plan to encase it in grout. I think that big business has no regard for the environment, and guess what? we live in it, eat, drink, and breathe from it. I will be dead in 60 years, but I do not take a cavalier attitude, and say F**K it let them figure it out! Responsibility.

Was it really "Narrow unenlightened self-interest" when nations around the world signed the Kyoto protocol, obliging themselves to reduce their greenhouse emissions and started their national implementation plans? And wasn't it, on the other hand, indeed a most obvious display of "Narrow unenlightened self-interest" when G.W. Bush "unsigned" (nonexistent in the doctrine of treaty law) the Kyoto protocol because reducing greenhouse emissions were "harmful to the US economy"? I don't think there is anything bad about wanting to exist "in a clean place to live". That's what we all want. Environmentalists go a step further - they think abut the rights of others - humans and non-humans - to live at all and to live in a clean place, too. This is neither self-interest nor a lack of enlightment. It's the most basic understanding of morality - the starting point of all enlightment.

Good Work on the image and Idea !! Excellent morph !

Good theme again and nice animation work, I agree that we have a duty to protect our environment. We accept the need to maintain our bodies and our mechanical contraptions, but somehow feel no need to maintain that which we live on, we just presume it will function the same as normal whatever we do to it. Hey Mark relax, we love Carlin, and we DO get the joke, we are just having a little "Earth Day!" ;) Come pull up a chair, crack a beer, and relax! We're actually a friendly bunch, (Of kooks!) ;)

it's sad in a way... but definately a wakeup call of reality... just hope we all can live a peaceful existance for our children and their childrens sake!!! well done animation!!! :o)

yep, I think the earth will be here lonnnnnnnng after we're gone, never worry much about it. People as a whole are basically worthless.
ShadowWind
I agree with Gladys, the earth will survive, but people will not. People should consider this when they mess with the environment indeed. Very cool animation...

Yeah...America has gone from a leading manufacturing nation to a leading consumer nation. The world makes it, we consume it, and throw away the wrapper. A dollar store on every corner, so we think our "money" is worth something! Oh well, enough of politics. I get in trouble every time I start down that route. All the worlds problems can be sourced back to "human greed".
Turin_Returns
Freedom....was that the freedom I received by being banned for posting images about my disagreement with the Gulf war? Oh well.....great work and a bold sentiment
ann0314
Gritty and honest...very truthful also...you can look at the image and feel you position without reading a word...that is what makes art great...expression without words needed!!! Very Powerful and I agree with you :O)

Great animation! Money truly IS the root of all evil! Ever notice how corporations make the quick fix to save a buck, instead of thinking long term to save Four! These are the greedy weedies that run the country! "help us"
xcentricity
This is a great statement! Especially after the hurricane powered by global warming!

I'm with you, Digimon! Especially having seen the last 5 years of damage GW has done - It is shortsighted and arrogant to believe we can treat our planet this way. Earth is our home, not a storehouse of resources to be raped for our luxury!
