I must admit, I have no idea where this concept came from. Perhaps it's all the tributes to Ronald Reagan, perhaps it's just a whisper from the muse that echoed from Memorial Day... But, here it is: the US flag made of glass cubes. The cross is fudged volumetric lighting. I created one cross with the path tool, resized and repositioned it, skinned it to make a cone or wedge, and then filled it with mist. The cross didn't light up enough, so I had to create a second, smaller mist-filled cross and positioned it directly over the flag to give the light more definition. This is a Raytraced render in Strata 3.9 Pro. Only a few minor color tweaks in PS7. [I have a Raydiosity Render with soft shadows in the works, but it had been running for 14 hours and still hadn't finished. I'll restart the suspension tonight and see if it finishes by tomorrow.]
