Description

Right after I posted Reverence (see my gallery), I realized that I should do an actual memorial image for Ronald Reagan. I was out on the Web looking for photos when my wife called to complement me on the first image, and to suggest that I make a memorial to Reagan. Needless to say, I was surprised that we were on that same wavelength because, when I started Reverence, I never really intended to go any further with it. But, here we are. I'm mostly happy with it, although the composition was harder to nail down than I thought it would be. I kept playing with the number of pictures, their location, and the location of the rose. By the way, special thanks to Christopher Bischoff for his rose model -- it's in the Resources area at www.stratacafe.com. The picture frames were created by skinning solid planes together. The small cross is an extruded and beveled path. I'm going to try raydiosity render with soft shadows to see how it comes out, but I suspect I'm finished with this series. I'm going to end with a bit of a pre-emptive kvetch: this is not a political statement and I would really appreciate it if you refrained from making any here. Thanks!

Thank the fates he's dead...and couldn't remember, in the end, the pain he's caused to millions. He's the cause for 25 years of religious intolerance, social unrest, and economic irresponsibility!!! He turned the Republican party from a tolerant organization to a right-wing ultra-conservative hate group!

Although I respect your freedom of speech, your comments here are inappropriate, especially after my request that people refrain from using this image as a soapbox to further their political agendas. To put it bluntly, you have no class.

This is a wonderful memorial. Reagan did a lot of good things. [I see some liberal couldn't help but put in their mindless comments - they are just angry because Socialism was struck a fatal blow during his adminstration. ] Nevertheless, I do appreciate your memorial to a fine President.

A very fitting memorial for one of my all-time most respected men. I am proud to be able to say the he was my president, most of all because he said the my Lord was his Lord as well. No man is perfect and no president can fix all the woes of a country or completely rid even his own administration of corruption, but I believe he was one of the truest and Godliest presidents we have ever had and so I applaud your honoring of him. Excellent technical work as well :-)
