Description

I took this shot months ago but decided not to post it because of the narrow DOF. I guess maybe I thought it was a little unsettling as well :) Analyze with keen interest or recoil in horror...it's up to you.

Reminds Me of Living in the Australian Bush....always looking for Red Back Spiders under the Toilet Seat...I see the Pen? Did You find this Widow in the Personal Column? I don't know what I would do if I found this hanging from My Pencil. You are sooooo Brave Runabun :]

I never mind shallow dof...and I think the best thing about this is the arch of the leg to the far left. In this case, at least, the pen truly IS mightier than the sword. To me at least lol.

This spider has a "phalus obsessional syndrom" LOL. The red on the abdomen tell my that it is a Latrodectus mactans known as "black widow" brrrr, really dangerous specie ! Anyway, a great presentation Mat, thanks... for both shot and courage V

I found one of these in the cabinet that houses my computer . Maybe they are attracted to computers ? Something to think about when your reaching for paper to refill your printer .

Funny how one day you don't like a shot you've done , then a month later you like...go figure...great shot btw, don't know what it is about Black Widows that makes 'em so creepy.

I think what makes them so creepy is the long pointy legs and the jet black sheen. Thanks for the chuckle earthman236. Way to instill paranoia into any arachnophobes who may venture here to comment. :)

That really does make me shiver! I use to work at a power plant and these widows were all over the place...they always had an unsettling effect on me...that being said...I'm glad you did post it...you are a far braver soul than I am...Excellent!!

Well, I'm most afraid of spiders. But this composition is superb, the blur is well dosed and the motif is quite, well, unexpected. Very good work! Btw, don't know why, but this image is not disturbing, though of the DOF.

Yep your really brave. I hear those things eat entire human beings some times and strike with lightning speed. I think this is a very good image to check out. The narrow DOF actually adds more depth it seems. Thanks for sharing. :0)

I have a serious spider phobia but, for some reason, I don't find this shot creepy at all! I actually find it beautiful!! Probably the Black with the red dash! Always works! Love the POV! That said, maybe it's also because I'm lucky enough to live in Europe where we don't have those deadly creatures so I don't really realise how dangerous they are! Fabulous shot! V
