Description
Personally, I like this shot better than the last. Maybe it's the extra dynamic created by the red eyes.
I have a ton of great shots of these little flies. :)

Great photo Matt.. I especially liked the long and fragile legs... It also has very beautiful metallic colors.. You have a perfect capture here...

The colors and structure of the leaf form a wonderful whole with the this beautiful colored creature.

(Your macros are exciting, I love that you can even see the "hairs" on its back; the metallic quality is great in this one) ... in Nature category, eyes bring in the life to the mind, they prety much have to be visible if at all aporopos, and focused sharp ... film was so good at capturing red and it became traditional to feature anything red in a photo, well, here, it is the only red AND it is a complimentary colour to the prevailing tone in the backgrond ... I think the angle of the fly in this one makes it more dynamic because of the way stipes on its back cross against the grain of the background and snap attention onto the subject.

Vibrant colors on this one ;) Beautiful capture !

For me its the blue reflections on his body !! Excellent work again !!! V

I just wanted to point out that this fly is more than twice as small as a regular sized fly. I am not sure if it's size can be attributed to a "post-maggot juvenile stage" or if it is simply a smaller species. I am guessing that "fly watching" would prove to be a much more daunting hobby than bird watching. :0

Flies are facinating....but...the Iridescence is from ingesting Death...Maggots are interesting too....Forensic Pathologist Study them a lot....to find the time....a "Cadaver ceased to Live". Great shooting Matt. Good Chappie :]

Purty green! Maggots.... shudder I'll never forget the day I reached into a trash barrel without looking and came up with a handful of maggots.... hurl or the day the squirrel died in my garage (didn't know it til I smelled it) and the maggots were literally making little thuds as they hit the ground falling off the high shelf.... hurl again.... I do not like maggots.
