Description

OK, I just finally have been able to get Vue installed in Panther (Mac OS X) and was in the process of loading all my material sets when I glanced at the little scene render preview... it caught my eye and the rest is history. Over the next couple of days, I tried a number of other objects and effect, but I came back to this simple setup each time. I can't tell you exactly why I like this image, but I really do. Maybe it's the way the light plays off the sides of the marble, but whatever it is, it may end up as one of my favorites. It may be simple, but there's just something about it that I like. I see why you like it. The composition is flawless. The tree frames the marble, but not so perfectly that it seems staged. The light on the left edge of the marble seems just ready to peak around it. And the background colors flow perfectly through a sunset pallet to complement the vivid red of the marble. Really, this is a wonderful image. If you want to make it more realistic, add some more grain to the sand and maybe, just maybe a few TINY pebbles/sand grains very, very close to the camera.

This is superb. Love the whole image. Looks realistic, but I agree with mmitchell about the grainier sand, and how about some sand sticking to the marble (as it's wet). Although saying this I think the image is amazing by itself. Simple but so effective.
