Description
I wanted to play around with volumetric effects, so I went mythological. :-) Hand/arm is Vicki II from DAZ, sword is the RuneSword by Mathew Clara (emjaysea) from Free Stuff; the rest is me in Bryce 4 with very minor render artifact touchups in PSP7. I intend to re-render with all the bells and whistles in Bryce 5 as soon as it shows up.
Comments appreciated when constructively given. ;-)

great job Tom, this is a very impressive image, my first instinct was to say OUCH that point has got to hurt, perhaps letting the Lady of the Lake hold the other end or drop that into her hand :) I see you are a PSP user, stop by forum if you get a chance, thanks-Trev

Trevor3000- thanks for the comment! I deliberately put the sword point down (despite the tradition of having the hand grasping the sword by the hilt) to give it a more mystical feel. Too often this particular image just feels like there's someone underwater holding out a sword. ;-)

This is very good. You might want to work on the splash around the wrist a little bit. It has a bit of a funnel/vase look going on. It's a little too solid. Not fluid. I just reread the Once and Future King a couple weeks ago. There was no mention of the Lady of the Lake in it- was there?

the volumetric effects are very efective. lol. but the splash is a bit solid. love the composition very different.

::nods to all:: I went back and forth on the splash, working with a less-solid version with more discete splash elements but I kept coming back to this one...my gut kept telling me that an object entering the water from above will create more sperated, discrete splashes, whereas something coming up from below will create something more like what I have since it pushes the water up with it, which then bursts and flows back... don't know - but I hear what everyone is saying... and I now have Bryce 5 so I will be re-rendering and posting within a few days...
