I've been a 3d "hobby artist" on and off since sometime around 2000 or so. I've never stuck with it long enough to get good or to learn any advanced techniques, but when I do "play around" I have fun.
I also started messing around with vector drawing, as I can't really draw. Using vector allows me to utilize shape deformation and tweaking to create my scenes.
As of right now, July 2018, I'm working hard toward a goal I've had for a decade plus, and that is to make physical card, dice and board games for adults as well as animations and some simple video games. To that end, I'm developing my own characters in vector. The style is simplistic but I believe it will be really good once I have several items completed.

Good atmosphere.
A good image to be the second.
I have both Vue and Bryce and prefer Bryce. Vue has some powerful tools but I see things better in Bryce and it's more easier to move things around in Bryce.
Most of the time, Vue simply gets on my nerves!

stop by the Bryce Forum, and ask us questions..;) also, the Brycetech forum has moved to Daz, so that's a good place to get tutorials on more stuff than even I've looked at..;) Welcome to the club..good start..

Wow, I can't remember what my second image looked like...nor do I want to. Good start. Bryce 5 is a wonderful program. Not only can you do scenes and landscapes like this, but cities, spaceships, robots and other such things that require a lot of intricate modeling. Hope to see more of your pics!

Better than my second image, to say the least! Love the texture juxtaposition of the water to the enviornment. Great work, can't wait for more. And if you ever wanna see some awesome Bryce work, check mrdodobird, flak, or ralphwarnick's galleries, as I they've been mostly my Bryce-related inspiration since I've started.

Astounding work! The lights, textures and reflections on sea are really amazing.

Looks very cool Eryk nice work. You'd never know this was only your 2nd try at Bryce. It reminds me of the kind of work that old crazy guy on tv that used brushes & sponges on a canvas and make beautiful landscape shots. (Though I seem to remember he always had to have trees!)

Great Job!!! Keep at it... someday you'll not even remember this piece :-)... Hope to see ya around often.

Pretty damn good for your 2nd image....looks really cold out there! Bryce has lots of water .mats. You could try a different one to get the sea to look more realistic. The terrains are really nice...I keep looking for Nanook of the North :-)
