Description
This was a test to see how well Imagine would render a 'realistic' earth with the hires maps from the blue marble site. Unfortunately I ran out of memory with the hi-res 10k maps, so had to use the 4k maps.
There are 5 actual spheres used. 1 for the actual earth, 1 for the blue atmosphere and 3 'layers' of cloud with different contrasts for each layer, so as to give the clouds more 'depth', and not look like just another paper thin sphere with clouds painted on it.
I think it worked out ok, but a shame I couldn't use the hires maps.

Great render Lahl, shame about the 10k maps, but it still worked well :)

this is wonderful.... where is this blue marble site? I did a google search but found no where that had images, I'd love to try this in Carrara.
