Very nice. Finding joy amidst the rubble of despair is a powerful message, and you've done a fine job of conveying it here. I definitely sympathize with you about wanting to be done with a piece that's taken a long time. I often feel that way. If you ever do revisit this, I would consider lightening the background (or even give it a slight blue tint) so that the main characters stand out a little more. I think this would strengthen your composition a bit. You might also want to add a little light to the fathers face but then again, maybe not. Its a powerful, wonderful piece as it is, though bravo!
