Description

He felt the storm coming early this morning. His bones told him what eyes could not yet see. He hurried about getting everything on the farm settled in, even though the skies were clear as they could be. His neighbor noticed all the hustle and bustle and came over to inquire of the old man "What's all this about?" Without stopping, the old farmer replied "Thars a storm a comin' and I gotta get everthang put right afore it gets here!" and he hurried about his way. His neighbor just looked up at the clear blue sky and laughed. A few hours later, his laughter transformed into a new respect for the old man. As he watched the dark clouds roll across the sky and listened to the wind dancing in the maple leaves, he remarked to himself "Well what do you know, the old man really did know it was coming." From that day on, he never looked at the old ones the same. After all, they just may know a thing or two that we don't. Dedicated to our elders and the wisdom of experience that we younger folks often disregard. Vue 4 on a Mac; Slight postwork to get rid of the rings around the tree trunk. The sky, barn, and textures all by me. Comments and suggestions always welcome.

It might help for me to be a touch more specific: the cloud background is one of 20+ photographs that I took of a storm that came through Alabama on July 4th (I probably should have been seeking shelter somewhere, but they were just too wonderfull and I just had to get pictures). Thanks for taking a look :-)

I like the mood you created here, but i think i would like it even more if I could see some ground and maybe some of the other vegetation that must be there (besides the Marpletree) :) (was that specific enough? Please excuse my bad english) Anyhow, i like your picture very much!

A wonderful example how to make a very impressive picture with very few elements. The atmosphere is fantastic.

Excellent work, you can almost feel the coming storm. Here in Florida, we get a warning wind before it all breaks loose. I can almost feel that wind from the picture. Exceptional tone...

Very strong mood. The composition is very simple, and bravo on matching the light of the photo to the 3D world! Great job. My only (minor) critique is that the barn looks a little too fresh and clean. Perhaps a few things, like horse tack or an old saw, hanging on bent nails on the side would add a little realism and detail to the scene. But I'm still wowed by this!
