Description

Gamelan In a temple courtyard, the gamelan is ready for the afternoon concert. Soon the dancers and musicians will enter. "Gamelan" is the Indonesian 'orchestra' - composed mainly of metallophones (gongs, xylophones, bells, etc.). There are many types of ensembles. The temple gate is based on Balinese styles. I had planned to do this picture with all the musicians and a couple of Oleg dancers in the foreground. However, even after building the background in a separate file, this file is already almost 340Mb in size. I've had to curb my ambition and scale back my plans. My current computer just won't handle adding the 30 or so Poser figures needed to complete the full scene, so here it is without the people. All instruments are made of parts crafted in DesignCad 3D and Bryce primitives. Non-procedural textures painted in Corelpaint7. No postwork.

Beautiful image. I think that adding the people would have taken away from the fine details that you spent so much time on.

I agree with PegasusDR. In many cases an image of a public place devoid of people creates a serene feeling in the viewer.

Beautiful work here; Your modeling is Great! and your texturs seem to jump righ off my screen. This is a very well thought out and excuted work of art, love all about this. Outstanding
