Description

Thanks for viewing ! Comments are welcome... This is the Small Copper, latin name is Lycaena phlaeas. This species is not as common as the Common Blue, at least not here. In the area i go to photograph these butties ive only seen 2 or 3 of them. In comparison to at least 30 or 40 Common Blues, so thats not much :o) I have learned that the circumstances for fotographing these butties are best on a sunny evening, from about an hour before sunset until your dont have enough light anymore. Because they go and look for a place to spend the night. They usually sit on the stems of high grass, or on plants that are in the middle of the grasses. For some reason they dont immediately fly away when they see me coming during thistime of the day, it might be the temperature... But it has a price, as with most good things it has a downside... all my mosquito bites have merged and i am now one big mosquito bite myself lol :o) Hope you like :o) Thanks for all your wonderful comments on my last upload, "Sniffing out a Corpse" !! Many thanks, Enmos

Thanks. A most beautifully marked butterfly. Excellent photo. Be careful with those mosquito bites. Could be dangerous.

Prachtige presentatie, Jeroen, indrukwekkend!

i'm amazed how furry they are!!! Beautiful, incredible shots as always!!! it's very difficult to capture butterflies, and the time of day you try to shoot is critical....and different for various species. My timing hasn't been too bad; my shaking hands are the problem. And you can't use a tripod with butterflies. I may try again Wed or Thurs...maybe I'll get lucky!! Vote!
