Hi ~ my name is Gordon Arnold. I am originally from Croydon, 10 miles south of London, but have lived in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, in the north-east of England for over thirty years.BIOThis photo of me was taken by my sister Wendy, aka Gabrielsdream, in September 2005 at the Alnwick Garden in Northumberland.
I've been taking photos since I was about nine years old, I don't specialise, it's just whatever appeals to me at the time! Since going digital, I have discovered the possibilities this offers, and am learning all the time.
My interests apart from photography are music, theatre, art, architecture and museums, travelling and always combined with food, glorious food!
Because I suffer from a rare incurable bone marrow cancer, and have just started a fifth course of very punishing chemotherapy, involving periods of hospitalisation, I am not around on Renderosity much at the moment.
Thank you for viewing.
~Gordon~

This simple image, has powerfully conjoured up happy memories of many childhood holidays on the southern English coast; sandy feet, searching for crabs, bucket and spade, collecting shells, etc. I love the painted effect and the shadows cast on the pebbles and whitewashed huts. My Dad used to build huge sand boats which we'd huddle together in, till the tide came rushing towards the surrounding moat he'd dug, it would flood, then we'd dash back to the safety of the shingly beach, screeching with laughter! For those of you who don't know Bexhill, in Sussex, it is home to the famous beach facing Art Deco De La Warr Pavilion, which is currently undergoing restoration. This was a very popular venue for tea dances in the 30's! There are some great sepia photos of the stylish masses dancing in the open air, to the swinging bands! I hope you might have a series for us, Gordon! Thank you for stirring my memories too!
