Description
Beneath the Dark Moon's shadow
Dead leaves rise and whirl
Through forests primeval
Bony branches clatter warnings
By winds from all directions
Chasing down a long forgotten path
Overgrown and darkly haunted
Follow if courage does not flee
In the faces of Desire and Despair
For here is where they dwell with her
Their Queen of the Vmpyr, Bride to
The Lord of Death, Prince of Jinn
Universally serving unto the Alpha
They are the Omega, the Shadow equal
Bred to deal the final blow to all
Who dare reject their Source of Life
And so Death comes to souls condemned
Never more to play upon the worlds
Created for their delighted senses
Dark Angels serving Lords of Light
They too must obey or meet demise
As countless other races amid the stars
Come dance with Death and his Bride
As they contemplate the future
For promised they by the Lords
A feast of souls from Man...
And with each soul their life extends
The food chain must continue...
So if you care about your eternity
Learn you must the rules laid down
Upon Shumer in the beginning
For each of you is a dish in waiting
To serve or be served--the choice is yours
Did you believe that you were special?
Did you believe that you would be absolved?
Did you believe all taught by clergy bold?
For shame! You should have read your history
And laid claim to Truth and Reality
Perhaps it is not too late for you--
Search out your own true blood
For doors are closing that once stood open
Yet Time is forever convoluting
And very soon the Makers come
Claiming the world to make anew
Will you serve the Lords of Light
Or will you feed the hungry?

In a poem such as this which contains certain narrative and philosophical elements it is all too easy to be seduced away from the poetic voice into quasi-prosaic forms - you have avoided this tempation superbly and written a piece with a deal of elegance and finesse. I would not normally seek to read works in this genre, and in addition to admiring the technique [which did not surprise me] I am delighted to report I enjoyed it thoroughly, too! vote
