Description
I went to Das Haus der Schmilblicken today to test out my newish camera. I can now zoom optically to 10x and digitally to over 30x whereas my older camera was 2x. Period.
Looking over the entrance photo details of the posted image, I thought I espied a head on the tablets near the front door. I figured today would be a good chance to test the new zoom and get more details. What I did not expect was THIS.
Now there is a house marker at the entrance outside the gates with the house number on front and rear. The rear has a cryptic inscription (modern) which translates to the actual street address. The front appears to have part of the original inscription removed and the house number inscribed in its place. For privacy reasons, I clumsily cloned out the house number but I left the remaining details for your perusal.
I'm not sure how compression will affect the details on the top of the plinth. The inscription is:
None knew thee but to love thee.
She was the sunshine of our home.
Emma's last name was obliterated by the house numbers, thus it is now the odd area above the dates.
June 17, 1858
Died
Feb 9th, 1913
Age 54 years.
Enjoy; Reflect. If this is an actual tombstone, what an odd ending for Emma's monument. If it's a collectible theme item, or something from the owner's ancestoral past . . .
Thanks for viewing.
