Description

This is the moment we all waited for! Stars appear at the sky, Venus and Mercury have become visible and the sun shows the light of the corona (the outer atmosphere of the sun with temperatures of to 2 million Kelvin!), the white halo around the sun. I am stunned by the colors of the prominences (gaseous formations above the surface of the sun) in bright pink orange. Many people are observing this eclipse here and there, and no one can remain silent. Everyone starts to exclaim their awe for this event. It is the most impressive nature phenomenon I have ever experienced. It is frightening as if God has turned away from man entirely, and reassuring to know the light will return in a few minutes. An image of Calvary's darkness. And then the joy when the sun returns, shouting people everywhere - yeahhh! If you'd like to know more about this eclipse I have also a more detailed story. Today it's exactly five years ago this happened and if you ever can watch a total solar eclipse, don't hesitate, it's a once in a life experience (well, that is to say if your name is not Fred Espenak :)! Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 300 mm & 2X TC & cropping) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Reminds me of the ancient Egypt and the sages who rule the 'dark masses' by 'making the sun vanish'... I feel like a part of such dark mass today, led by the scientists and gods of technology... sigh Thanks for sharing this capture of nature's phenomenon :)
