Description

Only short after my first postings on RR I had the opportunity to learn to know Raj a.k.a. SNAKEY. I dedicate this view on the mountains to you, because I know you love landscapes with mountains. It is a pity when your physical condition does not allow you to climb in the mountains but by sharing this I hope to give you a glimpse of the Alps, the kick-off for a new series! You are a wise man and it is a great honor to look through your eyes by your most original daily postings and naturally your not less refreshing thoughts in comments and IM's! August 2003. A hot summer succeeded a hot spring. So the first thing I do when I arrive in the Swiss Alps is to look what has happened to the snow. The glaciers are still there but they have decreased a little and there is no fresh snow anymore. The mountain here has the very Swiss name Bärglistock (3656 m), free translated: a group of little mountains. Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 300 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Excellent shot Jan Carel!
It has all what a perfect mountainshot shold have :-)
About the "Bgli" I have to note:
In german the "li" means that it is small, as you translated correct.
But the swiss use the "li" for each and everything, like the "odr" at the end of every sentence odr? So Bgli does not necessarily mean a small mountain, odr? ;-)
Bglistock means in german Gebirgsstock = massif

This is beautful mate. Thank you. After having got my camera this is what I noticed that I had been blind for 40 years and my eyes really opened up after that. You can never have enough of anything anytime. Look at this mountain peak. You timed it well to take this shot. Had it been a diff time of the year, it would have looked a little diff and so on. I was always facinated with mountains maybe because my first view of a real mountain was at the age of 7 while travelling on a 2 day journey by train. At first I was really scared, never seen anything as huge before since I had only known plains, city life, and at the most some green fields. My passion grew as we had gone to visit my mothers uncle who had to his estate few mountains of Rubber Plant forming part of the Nilgiri Hills down south of India. As a boy I had like 3 to 4 escort and we would treck through the mountain and I would pull the rubber from the trees.... (which were cut to let the rubber milk flow) and make a playing ball out of it.. I shall never forget those days and thanks once again mate for this beautiful gift.:O))
