Description

2700 years ago, when the Olympic Games were held, wars were postponed in order to compete. I hope the world can chill out for a couple of weeks and enjoy a sense of comradery and accomplishment that the Games can deliver. Instead, I assume television coverage will focus mainly on the terrorism/security aspect, the drug-scandals, the question of whether Athens has done a good job and oh yeah, the athletic competitions. I'm already a little put off by the point of view of, "Only gold will do" and "Gotta get first, or it's a complete failure. I understand the top big-funded athletes expecting to win, but for many, the opportunity just to be there, representing their country, is a once-in-a-lifetime achievement. It would be nice if the world games really had the entire world taking part. Maybe one day. Nice pic, nice idea. Really like the terrain steps. (GO Great Britain woohoo!!)
