Description

"No one was watching..." ...their landing. Their first scout ships arrived at dawn, but only a handful of humans was still alive. Not on Earth, but far away, on the invaders mother ship - behind Moon's orbit. Lucky were those few taken 8 months ago. They were kept as specimens of a race that had to be slaughtered. Invaders did not want to destroy Earth, its biosphere was just what they needed, it was the purpose of their long journey. They have only to get rid of potential thread posed by humans. Although primitives, but still dangerous. Invaders were preoccupied by thread posed by nuclear missiles. They have not been prepared to wage an open war with a technical civilization, and a single low yield nuclear warhead could easily destroy any of their ship. They left their home planet over 20000 years ago, they knew their destination thanks to robots which provided them with very detailed information about Earth. However by a strange coincidence, no robot succeed to identify stone age humans as a specie that could quickly develop to technical civilization, which now posed a thread that have to be dismissed. Just six month earlier, they started sending on Earth drones that spread deadly virus all over continents. Of course, drone ships were well protected against Earth's tracking radar systems. However, few malfunctioning drones crashed and remains of one have been discovered on hills surrounding Zaisan Lake. They have been even correctly identified, so humanity could learn the cause of mysterious disease that has been proliferating since a few weeks at alarming rate. Fortunately, it is only fiction - I hope I did not scare you too much :) The story will continue.... (if you like it) CREDITS : Ships are from 3D Cafe, 3D Heaven, and De Espona 500 3D Objects Credits go also to cermit who provide me with some valuable suggestions. Harbor structures, Scout Ships, Aliens and whole city infrastructure (roads, trees, signs etc) are mine. Sky is volumetric atmosphere with one cloud layer of my design. I use many additional lights to simulate global lighting. Cheers ! :-) Robert

Your work always stuns me Robert, your modelling is exceptional, your imagination and eye for detail are unsurpassed. This is just as stunning as your other work, and I have a question for you. How do you find the time to do this??? I wish I had your infinate patience, this must have taken an age on model placement alone! Fantastic work my friend!!!

Hi Steve ! It was not such long as you might think. I didn't count hours spent on this project, but I think it was something around 3 weeks of work (say 10 h/day 5 days a week) Usually, the most time consuming process is modeling. - fortunately here I didn't have to model whole city (thanks to Moebius87 who did it :-)). I did only several models of harbor structure & buildings - it took about 1 day with texturing, aliens ship (ca. 3 days), alien (one day - here it is very small, but it is quite detailed model - we will see it next time), the rest of city infrastructure took another day. There was a lot of work on materials - as usually I am not very satisfied with originally imported materials. Tuning of volumetric atmosphere also took some time (ca. 2 days) - as I had very little experience with volumetric atmospheres - usually I used standard atmosphere model. Model placement is really easy job, and this is the funniest part! :-) Thanks to Vue object manager and layers I could easily hide layers (and objects) I didn't need at a moment, so I had a clear view of whole layout and quick refresh rate - even on my AMD Athlon 2000 +

Po pierwsze swiatlo....mmm...iodzio. To co "obcy" lubia najbardziej. Ktos by powiedzial - slepy ten tse czy co? Przeciez cala kompozycja... tyle szczeg... Zgoda. "Stracilem" mntwo czasu na podziwianie a przede wszystkim szukanie najmniejszych detali. Znalazlem ich wiele ale nie wszystkie. Bo takie sa Twoje prace - ciezkie od szczeg. Elementy karne jak wojsko. Przepych godny Palacu Zimowego (byles?). A ja, smierdzacy len trzaskam pare element i ocieram pot z czola ;) Zgadzam sie z cermitem ale z pewnym wyjatkiem. Ty nie jestes przed peletonem. Zaczales juz kolejny wyscig a biedaczyska niekte jeszcze nie dojechaly do mety poprzedniego. Chcialbym kiedys zobaczyc film, w ktym robilbys otoczenie dla bohater... C - niezla ta pracka :P Pochwalilbym sie czyms nowym ale wlasnie robie swoja stronke, wiec sam rozumiesz. mam juz adres hehe! I na koniec prosba - na przyszly raz nie dlub tak dlugo. Daj spok detalom i spr zrobic cos SFSurrealistycznego. Czy to możliwe? Pozdrawiam. Mirek :) English version: blah-blah-blah xlt+... everybody knows. v
