Description

This was my entry into the theme challenge. It's made from a rod. extruded for thickness then shaped line by line, the sand is a copy ov the inside warped and the rest is pedestrian stuff, primatives textured. 2 lights, 1 soft shadow, the other no shadow fill. comments welcome,...tnanx for stopping by

Good model, but render is spoiled by lighting I think. Perhaps move the keylight off-centre(less obstructive specular highlights) and increase contrast(i.e.more interesting/evident [self]shadows). But then, there's a reason why the big houses have separate modelling/animation/lighting/etc directors...

Hi, Bobby - Love the area where the glass uprights are cut by the rings! But I don't want to scare folks off with the "challenge talk," lol - these are just weekly themes to see different styles, folks - so please, design your own and upload it to the "hourglass" gallery at imagine3d.org! It doesn't have to be made during that theme week...just make a book (theme 1), upload to book gallery, hourglass to hourglass gallery, etc. whenever you want.

apparently my attempt to high light the flow of time by getting the glass's specularity to line up with the flow of the sand wasn't resounding success...oh well...win some ...lose some
