Description

The Oberer Grindelwaldgletscher is descending to an altitude of about 1300 m. That's very deep for the Swiss Alps. The extremity of the glacier is withdrawing itself, as most of the glaciers do (not all), due to climate changes. The vista here is a detail of yesterday's Ice on the move 1, zoomed with a factor 4. Anyone suffering from the heat? Shall I make a request for a special pipeline of ice to Arizona, California, Texas, Florida, India, Germany, France, ...? Would be a cool idea, not? :) Minolta X-700 (Fuji Sensia 100, 100 mm) Thanks for your attention and your always valuable comments

Well, you don't need a photograph with an overview of the glacier, your image shows impressively his state of health - all you can see is the skeleton of the glamorous and famous Grindelwaldgletscher. Nice and impressive detailed shot!

The contrast of the sun's heat and the cold of the ice inverts the normal basking in a cabin by a fire. Now the front side is chilled as the back sweats indecently. Your explorere's thrust is appreciated.

I'm with Rachel...looks like a rock formation!!! It reminds me a lot of the rocks which are found in Mammoth Cave here in Kentucky (of course, not made of ice!) There is so much power in this image, and I have no doubt would i be standing there, i would be holding my breath in awe! Excellent capture! vote!
