Description
This is quite likely going to be my entry into the Bryce challenge.
Are you sitting comfortably? Then I shall begin. Everything you need to know is either in the picture or in the following:
Lord Bryce was found dead in his study at 10am.
The alibi's are:
His wife was sleeping.
The gardener was tending the roses.
The cook was in the kitchen preparing a meal.
The maid had gone to fetch the mail.
The chauffer was cleaning the car
The butler was cleaning the silverware.
Statements from some of the staff:
Butler "I had taken his morning coffee to him at 8:30 and he was alive and well."
Cook "I had taken him his cereal at 8:00 and he was alive and well."
Gardener "I had put some flowers in his study at 8:15 and he was alive and well."
The wife, maid and chauffer stated that they had no contact with his Lordship that morning.
The detective noticed a bloody spanner by the desk and muddy footprints leading to and from the garden.
He knew exactly who had committed this crime.
Do you?
Please, please please don't post your answer here and let others have a go at working it out.
IM me if you think you know who the murderer was.
Bryce technical stuff: Just a bryce render. Bit of postwork. A few of the models from the web (cups, saucer, coffee pot, phone.) But I made the clock, which I'm pretty proud off. I don't know who the lady is in the picture. If it's you, then, you're famous. :-)
Update. A bit more post to add the phone cord, cereal in the bowl and coffee in the coffee cup.
A few wrong guesses so far. Keep trying.
Another Update: To fix the black books. Anything else? ;-)
Final Update:
Thanks for all the votes in the challenge. Managed to get 3rd place.
So, the answer.....
The calender says that it's Sunday. The maid claims to have gone to get the post. Post isn't delivered on a sunday! So she was lying about that.

Excellent work and I'm not sure who did it? let me get back to you on that point ;)

wonderfully realistic image as usual; neat to have a mystery story included with it :-)
Dreamingbee

I'll take a crack at solving this one... Great image as usual! EDIT: what's with the black pages in the books?
Fatale
i'm no good at mystery solving lol but i have to comment: this is an excellent render! I'm still very new to bryce, and this really spurs me on to learn it up even more, seeing such fine results :)
drawbridgep
I've had lots of theories, thanks people. But only one correct answer so far. From ringbearer. Of course any of them could be the murderer, but the evidence points to one person. :-)
GROINGRINDER
Professor Plum in the drawing room with a crescent wrench.
eelie
Great work there! But whoever did it stole the cereal spoon too! ;o)
drawbridgep
Picky picky picky. OK, Lord Bryce had the spoon in his hand when he was murdered and it went flying across the room. :-) Or maybe the spoon was the murder weapon. "Scoop your heart out with a spoon" mmmmm.....
captor213
The chauffer most likely had access to a wrench...Thats my guess, great render!.
melevos
Excellent!!
airlynx
Wonderful render, Defenitely first class. Of course I'm only seeing it after all those edits, but that's okay. I don't see anything wrong with it.

RodsArt
Nice work, be careful with that pen holder...that you don't mistake it for a coffee mug & put your eye out. I agree with the others, Super mats.

perfect work...V

You know this is so good!Tossing my crayons in the air.LOL. One thing though...not a big deal, but I'd have the woodgrain going the width instead of depth.
ShadowWind
I have my suspicions, but I am not sure. I think Col. Plum did it in the conservatory with the knife. Oops, wrong mystery. Excellent work, very realistic...
magickmedbh
Fantastic work! Love the realism! And LOL ~ ShadowWind, Col Plum couldn't have done it, there's a wrench on the floor, not a knife! ;P LOL
MoonGoat
Cool image and gripping mystery!
