Description


Twenty three Despite the weather, the flower show was still going ahead. Various ingenious means of protecting the precious stems had been tried; every blossom was a potential prizewinner and the town was a forest of protective lean-tos and tepees. Luckily, the day of the show dawned bright and relatively clear, although there was a suspiciously dark cast to the sky over the eastern hills. A show tent had been erected in the field behind the castle and was gradually filled with a riot of colour as people carefully made their way through the still-muddy lanes carrying this year
