Description

All shapes including sphere made with Apophysis2 betas10,13,16,17 and 21 -- Background, shading layers and masks made with Ultrafractal 3.02 -- Composed entirely in UF -- Contrast enhancement and sharpening with PSP7 When Arda was young and the light of the Moon and Sun were but just beginning to shine, heralding the coming of the race of Men into the world, Manwe bequeathed to the united elven kings of Numenor and the High Kings of Gondor the Palantiri - "seeing stones". With these marvelous gifts, watch could be kept for stirrings upon the marches of the frontier of Mordor and Barad-dur, citadel of that most beautiful yet most treacherous of the Valar, Morgoth Bauglir - whose name is no longer spoken by elven-kind. As is always the way with the passing of great stretches of time, most of these stones were lost in antiquity save 3, held by Sauron, the wizard Saruman the White and the last rumored to be held in the eerily enchanted forests of Lothlorien by the Queen of the Silvan Elves, Galadriel. Oft-times she would retire to a secret place in the forest to contemplate the power of this stone. Yet, she never looked over-long into its depths and hence never fell in thrall to the Eye of Mordor, Sauron. Elven-kind being immortal, they lack the traits of rashness and impatience that are common to the race of Men in their short and headlong rush thru finite lives and this, possibly, saved her. May we all learn to slow down and dig our surroundings and the people who love us. Well, I had an UF spiral to post that I thought was kinda neat and then this just "happened" - lol Thanks VERY much for stopping by and also VERY heart-felt thanks for your warm encouragement on my last 2 images. Time prevented me from thanking everyone and I feel kinda bad about that and will do better. :?) Rick Oh - here's alink to some of my pix from WAY back in the '90's AOL days: http://www.renderosity.com/gallery.ez?ByArtist=Yes&Artist=DrahcirXips

Totally Awesome Rick! I love how the spiral flame cradels the sphere. Great contrast between the gloomy backdrop and the rainbow flame pallet. You amaze us all.

This image has everything Rick - flowers , ferns , a wonderful orb with a gorgeous internal swirling pattern , and a fantastic intricate spiral that graces the whole of your image ! The dark sky with cirrus clouds is also very well done and imparts a brooding, ominous, flavour to the entire scene . Really superb work ! V /^:)

Beautiful fractal alchemy and mythical wonder..and with a timeless message applicable to all. The colors and composition are incomparable, Rick. I particularly love the colorful flame forms and the orb that seems to hold a developing lifeform..and the graceful swirling motion throughout. Did you write the story? Most impressive work!

What an amazing composition made from all Apo flames.. They seem to be coming from a book of fairytales. Thank you so much sharing this with us, and for the message to slow down.. (If I slow down more than I already do, I become imobile..lol..) Can you be my teacher.... please??? ;-))

Whoooeeeee, Rick!! This is awesome! Even the thumbnail is amazingly crisp and clear....I am surprised and amazed how well all the colors go together...the background isn't particularly dark, and not partiuclarly light...but it sets the flames off perfectly! The sphere is wonderful as are the accompanying flames, but that pink spiral....wow!!! What a shape! If the dark areas in the 'wings' of the spiral are shadows that you added, this is a superb touch! Fabulous 3D effect throughout.... well done, my friend!!
