I reckon anyone who knows me knows I'm NUTZ about catching shrimp from my boat and from the bridges in the area of Florida where I live. I got a package in the mail a few days ago from Dirk Monteny(urchin1996), who lives in Belgium. In the package was a wonderfully carved wooden statue of a shrimp fisherman on horseback that was carved by Dirk's dad's best friend way back in the 1960's! In Belgium, the shrimpers of Oostduinkerke catch shrimp from horseback in the Atlantic surf by towing a net behind them and they put the shrimp into woven satchels. COOL! The carving looks just like the shrimp fisherman pictured in a link Dirk sent me and its something I will keep forever so I thought I'd dedicate this image to him as a small token of appreciation. The "mushrooms" in the flame spiral remind me of the wild mushrooms my Oma used to gather in the woods of southwest Germany to make mushroom soup when I was a kid -yum!
