Description

I did an exploding sphere last week and it was so poor that I had to try again with another sphere. I deformed this sphere and gave it a metallic uneven surface before blowing it up with the BlastCode plugin for Maya. I used a simple mesh and a mountain fracture map to create the uneven fractures. I set the velocity and trajectory of the debris to .4 and .5. I used the Maya fire effect on frame 18 to create the look of an explosive force in the center. I am sure this will look better when I can master fluid effects and integrate them with the BlastCode plugin. I think everyone will agree this is a big improvement over the sphere.
