Looking good, just some simple adjustments will make it an excellent image. I would like to see a re-rendered version in the future my friend.

You've been asking for it, so here's some more ideas for improving your otherwise very impressive work: Play with the lights to create a certain mood in your image. I would certainly use a backlight to emphasize the cheek (left from our p.o.v.) and give the hair a little "glow". That light should look good with a comparably low-res shadow map already. Then, the expression: I would add just a touch of asymmetry to it - make one corner of the mouth be a little pulled up or one eyebrow a little lifted. Also, tilt the head a little to the side - judging from the average back/neck problems we have, none of us stands that upright ;)

Well, I really did NOT want to give you an "Excellent" for this ...... but I had to ... because the rankings don't go any higher. ;=] Just a casual observation: You are going to have a very difficult time making your next production better than this one. - IMVHO - cheers - dg - ;=] P.S. Hmmm ... I wonder if we might see this on the Poser6 box? ... Hmmm ?????

A magnificent demonstration of what Poser 5 can do. I certainly believe you needed 8 hours for this! The dynamic hair is easily the best I've ever seen. The thin hair looks perfect on this elder elf, I'd go for making the skullcap completely transparent. The jewel of his headband is outstanding. I think the pitch black lines of the headband are not shadows, but backfacing polygons. You can solve that by applying the shaders to the Alternate Diffuse node in stead of the Diffuse node. The eyewhites are a tad too "white", some more blood vessels in there would be an improvement - you can do that with an fBm node and a blender. The face texture is really awesome! Curious Labs should use this as a promo image. Fantastic work, and I look forward to that tutorial.

Actually, I can see very few things to improve in your work... and most have already been mentioned above. It is really a remarkable work! I would just add a more metallic look to the circlet, maybe with a raytraced reflection node and increasing the 'contrast' (darker diffuse color, lighter specular color, higher specular value and very small highlight size - to the point it's just a bright small point in the material preview palette). Other than that... just my congratulations! and... if you want to squeeze every bit out of firefly renderer, add a touch of volumetric light and some depth of field...

for eye whites, the spot node works great, white spots on a red bg, play around with the softness and threshold til you have very fine a bit blurry red lines on white. For the iris... well, there are a lot of colors in the eyes, and I've done it several different ways, usually using some noise, blender, some times edege blend, you really have to just play around with it. Great job really, keep challenging yoruself like this, it's the best way to find all that poser has to offer!!

To any new viewers: I re-rendered the image due to a stupid mistake I overlooked before. Apparently the "show populated" check box needs to be checked or else you'll just render guide hairs. I checked the box for the two groups I'd had it unchecked for, re-rendered, and re-posted.

And that really enhances the realism even more; I like the hairline on the forward a lot better with this, I can't really see the skullcap at all. Really, really nice work. :)
