Description

When I photographed the front door it was an overcast day, nothing 'reflective' that would have given that 'mist' look to the bottom of the photo. We were all standing in the driveway from the previous photo in Part 4. At the time we stood there a sudden wind picked up and nearly blew us over, then disappeared. We laughed at the time. I snapped the pic then we backed off and sat across the driveway behind us and ate a picnic lunch discussing the house. When we were done, I decided to take a close up of the door and once more as soon as I got close enough, the wind blew across us again! We did this a few more times at intervals after walking around and the wind would always pick up when we approached the door, but nowhere else. We took the hint. Funny thing we observed about this shot: it seems to be in layers--the roof seems to be so far away; then the door; the darker foliage and then the roses stand out the best. What we couldn't fathom is the fact that this was shot the same time and day as the previous photos and in fact we didn't think it would come out at all. This is done with a 35mm cheapo Kodak camera! No flash, nothing special. And by the way...those roses are the only flowers on the property that we could find. Maybe they were for the girl we sensed.

Yes, a truly excellent scene and description. Now it's time to write that mystery novel. :o)

The roses lend an air of hope to an otherwise hopeless area....perhaps indeed they were meant for the girl you sensed....

Correction: I don't think they're roses...I think they're Phlox...if anyone can tell me I'd appreciate it...my daughter's the gardner! LOL

That is truly a wonderful picture!!! I love how you manage to capture the seclusion - as if crossing that threshhold would bode some sort of reckoning...fantastic job! And as usual your writing brings it all together!

Yes, I see ... the perspectives are somewhat awry. Looks almost like the setting for a modern remake of 'Sleeping Beauty' with the plant barrier augmented [it seems] by a distinctly unwelcoming wind. Creep-rating remains gratifyingly high. v

I love the way the foliage makes a tunnel to the door, almost like something is keeping the way open...

you do know how to set the scene with the writing! the foliage seems to be protecting the house from trespassers :]

I really like the 3d sence this gives. Your right - layers. Hum? The branch that comes up directly in the center looks like it's going to Whap the person trying to pass through the portal! Straight to my Favorites and a Vote!

I'm enjoying your series on the haunted house. I lived in a house when I was little that had a few strange things happen in it. Maybe that's why I love old houses. I feel so at home when I walk into one, well maybe not all of them. The roof does seem to be further away than the front door.

I'm so engrossed in your story and photos, and like calum, can't wait to see and read what happens next! If you've never considered writing a book, I'd say, start thinking about it because you've got everything it takes to be an amazing writer. Awesome series!
