Description

Here's the closeup of the front door. We tried to open it and although there's no hardware we could see, other than hinges, it refused to open. We could not see through to the door from the broken windows, boarded up mostly, but it didn't seem to be blocked with anything such as furniture. Okay...followup: Howie got it into his head that we should visit the place on Halloween night that October. I was for it, Eric was afraid to be caught by the cops or the owner with a shotgun and "Red" thought we were all insane (he was one who didn't believe in the supernatural but was the first one off the ground if we experienced something seemingly unexplainable!) Ah...there's one in every group...just like there's the fearless one who always charges in before sensing out...that one is known as "demon fodder" is usually expendable! LOL Well, we did return but had to dodge a cop car patroling the area (probably the owner requested it) so we knew if we entered, the rule would be no lights! Well, my brave compadres decided to chicken out about entering after we all heard some strange sounds we couldn't attribute to squirrels or other such living creatures. I refused to leave without taking some pics, although I only had the cheapo camera with the flash. I snapped about a dozen including the front door, knowing that with the flash I would at least get that. Making it quick because of the light of the flash we left and met at the local Friendly's for coffee. I had the film developed a few days later and here's the strange part...a few pics I had of the kids dressed for Halloween out in the front yard, using the flash at night, came out...every pic at the house was completely blank, not even a variance in the tones of black to suggest darker areas of foliage or shadows...then the few pics taken later of my brave compadres at the restaurant (to finish the film) came out blurred but recognizable. No explanation forthcoming from the photo shop. I know the flash went off because we were apprehensive about being caught so who knows? As for tomorrow I will post the pic of the place the previous spring in which you will see how much foliage grew in one year!! The pic is a bit blurry as I took it from the car on the dirt road as we drove by but it's clear enough to see. I will find out if the place is still standing and let everyone know! Thanks for viewing!

The thing that doesn't add up for me in this shot is the shadows from the plants. They lay right on the door. The small round spot I take to be a doorknob of some sort, that would make the door further back about 3-5 feet back from the plants. The last photo made it look further back too. Quite interesting and hard to explain!

You're a braver woman than I am, for sure! I wouldn't go into that place in broad daylight with full sun streaming down, much less at night on Halloween...Nope nope nope! Love this picture though, and have truly enjoyed the story. I will be sorry when it ends :-(

Amazing! I'm sitting here looking at the door and wondering about all the things this house has seen, and what does it hold now based on the experiences you and your friends went through. Awesome photo and incredible commentary!
