Description
I created this illustration as a gift for my mother on her 83rd birthday. These verses describing love from Saint Paul's first letter to the Corinthian church are among her favorites in the New Testament. I like the simple way they are translated in the New International Version.
The image took me a few weeks to complete, working a little at a time. I developed and posed the figure in Poser 5 using Daz's Victoria 3 and Daz's Violin, Koz's UpDo hair, Mary MacDonagh's "Grace" character, MaskEdit's NaturalSkin texture, and PoserWorld's Roman Dress. The environment comprises benches by UweG, trees from Old Wood Volume 2 by ModualZ, TransPond's Water Lilies, part of the Greek Bath by DM Production, amphorae from the Greek Pots by OzzFest, and some pieces I modeled myself in Carrara 3. I made use of textures by Mark Bremmer and Mike de la Flor, and also incorporated an ornament by Jaguarwoman. I set everything up in Carrara 3, lit the scene and rendered it, then imported the result into Photoshop, where I did a fair amount of post work to prepare the final image for printing. Blackhearted's post work tutorial (included with his BlackEyes product) was invaluable. I also soaked up some inspiration from Maxfield Parrish...
I'm pretty happy with the result; I would have liked to do a lot more with the lighting, but just ran out of time.
Thanks to all the wonderful merchants and artists out there for their great products and hard work. Mom was very pleased.
