Description

The words below George Bush's picture are, of course, not a direct quote (which is why I left the quote marks off), but rather my own interpretation of what is going on. Because in the Orwellian doublespeak of the Bush administration, you won't find an honest declaration of his true thoughts & philosophy. Instead we have a "Patriot Act" that takes away freedoms, a "Clear Skies Initiative" that increase the amount of allowable pollution, a "Healthy Forests Initiative" that is a giveaway to the timber industry, etc., etc. How stupid & gullible do they think we are?

Are people touchy about politics in this forum?

Hmmmm...your reason for using quotes for the first two gentlemen and your "interpretation" for the third gentleman makes your argument specious. I recommend some diligence which will reveal that your accusations are false.

Okay, so you don't like George W. Bush. Fine. But guess what? Your post here ironically shows you still have the right of free speech. And the last time I looked, street protests here and there showed the right to assembly was still available here in America, unlike in the Arab world. As to your complaints about the judicial rights, the millions of extremely busy trial lawyers fly in the face of that... maybe you're referring to enemy combatants and terrorists during a time of war? Democrat president FDR had a solution to that... he put all the Japanese Americans into camps. Not only has Bush's administration not done anything of the sort, they have managed to combat terrorism globally more effectively than any could have hoped-- while still preserving the freedoms you moan about, and providing them for peoples who never had a chance for them before. Find another set of arguments to support your dislike of Bush... these just don't hold water.

George is better than "Flip Flop Kerry" I have tried to keep an open mind but the more I listen to Kerry I wonder what Ceptic tank the democratic party pulls it's candidates from.

You tell me who would Usama Bin Laden vote for and I'll vote for the other guy. Although I do not agree with Bush on all points but here is a president who inheirted a declning economy, a military and inteligence service that was falling apart and then 9/11 happens. He had a tough road ahead of him. I wouldn't want to president during these times

Bush has a set of beliefs that can be identified, a course of action which was forged from the events of 9/11...in response to terrorists the majority of the people of the US in a united voice asked the government to act....Kerry seems to want to throw his hands up and say ...oh...just kidding...it seems Bush fits with the many past patriots who knew that when threatened we should not back down ..nor run from the battle...we may not like war, but we should never run from it....further when the enemy sends a contingent to our doorstep they should understand that the war will be fought on their own doorsteps....

Dan Mill, America creates its own enemies, one because we fight for the freedom of "all" people and two, the U.N. does not have the back bone to enforce it own resolutions. Is it right to make preemptive strikes? NO!!! But all countries have the right to defend themselves when they are attacked, just as you have the right to defend yourself and family when an intruder enters your home. I for one, will not call the police and "wait" for them to come to help me, by that time my family may be dead. eyeland, I am not a warmonger by any means. I see enough carnage on the streets of America everyday, that would make a billy goat puke. I am truly sorry for what your family has gone through. My good friend was one of the four special ops men that were dragged through the streets of Iraq, he was on the news known as Big Mike who had a heart of gold and was fighting for the very freedoms that we have today and believed every person on earth should have the freedoms that we take for granted. To put it into perspective, democrates as well as republicans have removed some of our freedoms and its our fault. We voted them in to represent us. I have voted for both parties. I have voted for who "I" thought would represent my views the most. I am just as guilty as you, provided you vote. I don't agree with everything Bush has done and I don't agree with everything Kerry stands for. All politicans have use the fear factor at one point or the other and all politicians have so, to pursue thier goals and this is in every country around the world. You say Bush is just a narrow-minded, mediocre man who stumbled his way into power through the good fortune of being born into a wealthy & politically connected family is rediculious. Kerry has married into wealth, not once but several times and is worth, dollar wise much much more than Bush. But that is all Kerry is worth in my eyes. He has lied, betrayed his fellow servicemen, betrayed the trust, his voters in the state he represents, put him in and has flip flopped in everything he talks about. He tells people what "he" thinks they want to hear and then in the next state changes "his" mind and tells them what "he" thinks they want to hear, then blames the change on his speech writers. The man falls down when snow skiing and blames a secret service agent for making him fall and so on and so on. It's consistant, he pushes the blame on everyone else but himself when he makes a mistake. Even if we were not at war with terrorists, this man can not make up his mind and stand for something and no way would he earn my vote. His motto is "For a stronger America" yet his actions and voting record show the opposite!! As far as Hitler goes, this man can not and should not be compaired to anyone. Hitler was a true psycopath no if and's or but's. He was one of a kind. Saddam, who used biological weapons against his own people as well as Iran, who branded X's in the foreheads of his own people and cut off their right hands because they used American money, who killed his own people by boiling them in acid "alive" if they spoke bad of him, who lined up women and children and shot them in masses then put their bodies in mass graves, who's sons raped mens wives and children while making the husband watch, and then kill them all if they said anything about it. I could go on and on. Would'nt Saddams action put him up there with Hitler? No, the democrates of today, excuse me, the liberals of today (big difference), "by their own actions and words" compare Hitler to Bush instead of Hitler to Saddam. Where is the logic, the reasoning or the proof? I can only judge a person by his actions, to judge only by his words is foolish and irresponsible. Thank you for all your feedback and may GOD bless each of you.

Strange, you forgot a couple of attacks... 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and injured 1,000 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. military personnel 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000 2000: Attack on USS Cole. 17 killed, 30 wounded Wrong again...The economy has posted job gains for each of the last eleven months creating 1.5 million jobs since August 2003, including 32,000 new jobs in July according to payroll survey statistics released on August 6, 2004 And besides the Bush economy is still better than when clinton ran for reelection which they deemed as "exceptional" Not so exceptional now that a republican is in office huh?

Of course, the fact that the latest study done lumps all "households" together and does not use individual tax records to make it look like people make more (or less) than they actually do by the request of Dem. Senators and Representatives (a practice never used before) means very little. The fact that it is not the President's job but PRIVATE industry to create jobs means nothing. The fact that unemployment is at 5.5 (the same as when Clinton ran for reelection) means nothing. The fact that yes,the country has more people living in poverty but over 50% of those in poverty are not native Americans but immigrants with little or no education who don't speak English means nothing? The fact that under that well-tauted column "jobs created", Bush's numbers are higher than Clinton's when he ran for reelection means nothing? The fact that most of the Clinton "Jobs Created" were in the Dot coms means nothing. You know, that wonderful dot com bubble that collapsed into the nothingness it came out of? Let's be real here and use REAL numbers. Not pick and choose. If Clinton was a god-send for his numbers when he got reelected, why is Bush now a paraih when his are stronger than Clinton's were? Why are there new accounting practices being used, at the request of the likes of Kennedy, to make things appear worse than they are? Everyone talks about "lying" and "scare tactics", that train runs both ways. My husband and I are a part of that "middle class" everyone says got ripped off by Bush. Guess what? We actually do better under Bush (especially since leaving MA where any savings the feds offered was quickly subsumed into State Level taxes and fees). Yes, my husband is having a hard time finding a job in his field here in Va, but that is due to the requirements of the employers around here, not any of Bush's policies. After all, any given Sunday there are over 1500 new jobs IN HIS FIELD ALONE listed. I have a job and I'm busting my arse to support my family. It is not the President's job to "keep" my family. It is MY job to get a job and support my family. I grew up poor and often times homeless. But, my father and mother taught us to WORK for what we got and get an education. I did and my husband and I fought hard to enter the middle class after he got out of the military. It was not the Government's job or the President's job to lift us up. It was OUR job to WORK for what we got. It is PRIVATE industry's job to create jobs, and they have been. That is if they are not in a state like MA that taxes them out so they pack up and go somewhere else and take them precious jobs with them. IT is up to us as individual citizens to support those PRIVATE industries and to WORK for what we get. Not sit back and wait for a government handout.

Sorry. Nope. Not one job created. He's lost far more than he's made up for. No way you can spin the numbers or reports any other way. First president since Hoover. Hoover was a loser as far as the economy was concerned. Too much similarity there to make me feel all warm and fuzzy about the future. Also, I don't suggest it's the president's job to create jobs. The executive branch does set a great deal of foreign policy and sets the budget. Two months before W was coronated, DCX posted record profits and paid out record profit sharing checks. Two weeks after bush was coronated, DCX was near bankruptcy and found it necessary to move it's financial base to Stuttgart. The basic idea here is free trade versus fair trade. Can America compete with economies that allow and encourage cartels? The answer is unequivocably no. So, we lose jobs in skilled trades, and gain jobs at Wal-Mart. A job setter at DCX made 30 dollars an hour or more. At Wal-Mart, he'll be a greeter, and make 5. So, basically, if you think it's ok to open our trade borders knowing we cannot compete with trade practices, then we're going to lose jobs willy nilly. And we did. We are also going to lose revenue. And we have. We are also going to lose revenue base. And we have. We are also going to see a dramatic decline in Gross. And we have. So corporations have protected MARGIN. Margins have stabilized, while gross is dramatically down. Protect the Gross, protect the revenue, have money to pay for wars instead of supporting our troops with communist dollars. Personally, I feel it's fiscally irresponsible and criminally negligent to operate in deficits that are by ammendment illegal. The incentives that fueled the DotCom boom have been spent on subsidies to agri-fuel ventures that were already in profit. As far as terrorist attacks go, you've left a few out. Waco, Oklahoma City, Idaho. And still, none of them even come close to how many innocents are killed in this country due to guns and alcohol. If it's about safety, shouldn't the Number One killers be the priority? So, he has not created one job. This is directly related to foreign policy. Which is directly decided by the white house. Deficit Spending More than Twice the Legal Limit. Which means we are paying for our war with communist dollars from china. And this is OK with you because why? If it were your boss doing this sort of thing, wouldn't you be a little concerned? And not one of you addressed the record number of bank foreclosures. Banks don't make any money whatsoever foreclosing. They lose money. They are losing money. 30 percent loss of income means even with record low interest rates, people cannot pay their house notes. And the foreclosure rate is nearing and will surpass record levels in very short order. This doesn't concern any of you? How can it not? If i ran my business that way, I'd be in deep deep trouble, If I ran my household that way, I'd be in deep deep trouble. Guess what? We're all in deep deep trouble, and nothing is being done or proposed to address these very very very real problems. It's not about right wing or left wing or party affiliation. It's about dollars and cents. These problems cannot be spun by pundits. Imagine telling your mortgage company, oh, hey, it's because the Democrats didn't include individual returns. I can't pay now, but I will someday. No money on hand, but my margins are showing a steady increase. See? Doesn't work. For the first time in history, the Big Three (ford, gm, chrysler) are under 60 percent market share. In a market they invented. Those three companies enabled the prosperity we all so recently enjoyed. Ford is the single largest industrial concern IN THE WORLD and GM is the single largest employer IN THE WORLD. And none of that money stays between our borders? I beg your pardon? And you people are happy cuz he's taking over Iraq? The top three suppliers to the big three make more in a year than Iraq can ever hope to or ever has. And W's policies do nothing but encourage all that revenue and GNP slip overseas. Sorry. I don't care about who flip-flops or who has no idea the name of the language he speaks isn't 'american'. Gonna balance the budget and take measures to protect american trade and stabilize the revenue base? Cuz frankly, Wal-Mart jobs suck wet farts out of dead pigeons. And frankly, they shouldn't even be considered jobs that can even hope to support a family. Those jobs and that revenue exist. Care to fight for them? I do. I'm certainly not inclined to watch them given away. BTW, is than an American Flag on your Japanese car? Ok, no name calling, no specious silliness about character. If you can look me in the eye and tell me the economy is good and the deficit is fine and replacing skilled labor jobs with service sector (Wal-Mart) jobs is fine and dandy, ok. I honestly don't see how anyone could do it. Be a conservative, and see things how they really are, not how you'd like them to be. Kldorman, in july, 30 thousand jobs were added to the list. That's it. as far as clinton's dot com jobs go, read back over the part of record profit sharing from the big three, factories built, and new ventures and research spent in the industrial and tech sector. Dot com made for wonderful human interest stories. Drop in the bucket compared to the single largest industrial concern in the world and the single largest employer in the world. Trivialize those numbers at your own risk. They drive this countries economy far more than anyone truly realizes. One small strike in one small factory in Ohio shut down the great lakes states in 3 days, spread to the eastern seaboard in just over a week before clinton ordered them back to work under arbitration. less than 60 percent market share. First time EVER. losing share to companies THEY OWN!!! fair trade? no, not fair at all. Finally, don't underestimate the power of the Euro. They're gaining strength and power with this system, and we're in mighty debt to the euro as well. Lots of leverage they're gaining to set trade policy and thus get to determine what sort of waitress you get to be. Ugh. Fine. None of this bothers you. DCX's record profits vaporize with the stroke of W's pen and dance straight to Germany. And this is fine by you. Enjoy servicing and trucking and having no other options but to take the leftovers of foreign corporations. Would you rather build, own and sell the truck, or drive it? Guess which job pays more, guess which industry earns more money, guess which generates a stronger, healthier revenue. (HINT: IT AIN"T TRUCKING!!!). Take a look at how industrial concerns have fared under W's liberal and loose policies. How many industrial and tech jobs has W created?

What bothers me more than anything about images like this is that people like you spend a lot of time slamming our President. While never saying a thing about the 300,000 christians killed in the Sudan by the practitioners of Peace (Islam), or the children shot running from Islamic terrorists in Russia! Lets not forget the 14 other world conflicts where Islamic practioners of peace are attacking their neighbors. I guess the polliticaly correct term used nowadays for the slaughter of Christians by their peacfull Muslim brothers is ethnic cleansing. Make an image of that!

I probably shouldn't dignify Flipflopper1 with a response, since he's too cowardly to allow comments on his work, but feels perfectly fine about commenting on mine, but in the interests of educating someone, who like George Bush, views the world in simplistic terms & mocks those who see "nuance", I will. To equate means to state that two things are equivalent. I specifically made it clear that I didn't think they were equivalent. To state a similarity between two things is merely to point out that they share a common characteristic. To use an example that even someone with a cowboy mentality can understand, I can say that both the Lone Ranger & a masked bank robber have the similarity that they both wear masks. That doesn't mean that I'm equating them - get it? And no, agentmike, you'd lose that bet. My grandmother was murdered by the state-sponsored terrorism of Adolf Hitler & my mother, father & uncle were brutalized in German camps & somehow managed to survive. But that didn't make them or me warmongers, it didn't turn us into hate-filled revenge seekers, & it didn't convince us that we should sacrifice freedom for security. What many people fail to realize is that freedoms aren't usually taken away by governments all at once. Governments just start chipping away at them slowly, so that folks will just think "Oh, that's not so bad & it doesn't affect me personally". And over time, more & more freedoms are eliminated until the right to dissent is effectively eliminated & you find yourself living in a more & more fascist society. Hitler used fear & paranoia & the threat of foreign enemies in just this way. Now I'm not in any way equating Bush with Hitler - Hitler was a true demented sociopath while Bush is just a narrow-minded, mediocre man who stumbled his way into power through the good fortune of being born into a wealthy & politically connected family & who probably thinks that what he is doing is for a noble purpose. But the tactics used by both men are disturbingly similar - the use of fear, paranoia & lies to create a national hysteria that will convince people to support pre-emptive wars & willingly relinquish their freedoms. And if you think only non-Americans or confirmed terrorists have been deprived of their rights, you're just not paying attention.

They need to add a ranking choice: "Sophomoric Bullcrap". I agree with servo, but he forgot to mention Democrat Wilson locking up Socialist Eugene V. Debs for agitating against the draft (ie. exercising his free speech). It took Republican Harding to free the man. No President, Rep or Dem, could get away with abridging anybody's free speech like that today. And, of course, eyeland can never use facts to back up his case. The evidence ain't there.
