Description

A battle convoy of the New Republic, patroling the border regions near the galactic expanse of the outer rim regions. After numerous incidents with restructured imperial remnant forces, like the raid of Bpfash and the destruction of an Elomin elite force, the military of the New Republic under the command of Admiral Akbar is forced to show increased presence in the border regions that are once again becomming battlefields in the struggle for galactic peace and dominance. Credits to Sci-Fi 3D for providing most of the models. Comments welcome! ^_^

Very cool! I love both the image and the story! Not sure how to pronounce those names though...

The light needs to be far far away.

you might want to add some mapping to "dirty" them up a bit and running lights, window lights etc... to keep the models from looking to clean and static.

I dont know what HorseFleshs problem is, but I dont have the feeling that the planets athmosphere looks wrong. The clouds and the athmospheric glow looks quite good to me. About the engines and the jet trails: I think that is a style question. Pure and simple. From the physical aspect, there is nothing wrong with long exhaust trails, since that just depends on the power output of the turbine and the fuel used. Some particles have a longer afterglow than others. Excellent work for me!

Thanks for all the comments and I partly agree with HorseFlesh about the planets look. I am still tinkering with that.

Looks darned good to me, artists choice of ship appearance and planet work. I appreciate any artist taking the time and effort to share with the rest of us. Since I havent been in space I cant speak to what a planet should or shouldnt look like other than hollywood versions but i suspect a difference between methane and oxygen. Thanks VOID. ya do damned good work. Dwayne.

The planet's atmosphere is rather strange. It has a very "textured sphere/decal" feel to it. The shadow side of the ships have a strange glow around the edges of the panels that really doesn't make any sense. Other then that, good composition.

In fact, the "strange glow around the edges" is supposed to make them look more like plastic models. Always remember, that not every render is supposed to look as realistic as possible. With certain themes thats not intended from the start off. ;)
