Description

This is a Sienar Fleet Systems GAT-12j, also know as "Skipray Blastboat". The 25 meter Skipray is a hybrid between a very light cruiser and a superheavy fighter/bomber and is operated by a 4-man crew. The Skipray is typically armed with 3 fire-linked ion-cannons, a twin laser turret, concussion missiles and a proton torpedo launcher. Although it is very maneuverable for a bomber and has excellent athmosphere flight capabilities, it is not nearly as agile as smaller space fighters are. Even though the Skip has strong shields, a hyperdrive and powerfull weapons, it does not perform well without fighter cover against enemy starfighters beyond the first, fast surprise attack. Due to imperial fleet policies the Skipray was not a very huge success and the fleet prefered the smaller, faster and less crew intensive Tie-Bomber over the more versatile and powerfull Skipray. Only few stardestroyers and imperial installations have some Skipray Blastboats in theyr hangars. Most of the surplus models have found theyr way onto the black and grey market, or serve as planetary defense crafts for small planetary defense forces and stellar escort services. Many are operated by independant mercenaries and space pirates, giving the Skipray a relatively shady reputation. Nevertheless, the Skipray is very dependant on a good crew and it

Wow! Sometimes less is more. I love the dark and shady appearance. It gives the ship an eerie look. It underlines its role as capship hunting predator. :D

Great description. Although looks mysterious a bit of lit up will help to view more details.

I will make a shot with more light once I got the model all tuned up and more detailed. Theres no use for unnecessary light, when there is not much to see yet. ;P
