Water clocks are winter clocks. The ancient Sumerians invented them in the place we now call Iraq. There are some examples in the book by Vitruvius the Roman architechtural writer. No way to refill them is shown.

Evie, I'll skip the preliminaries and get right to it. Dave this is a one of a kind unique time piece and I just gotta have it. It's perfectly suited for Canadian use. Two things that we have HERE in abundance WATER and SNOW make this priceless timepiece a natural for this part of the world. Don't worry about the water refill thing I'm positive that with additional plumbing refilling this wonder will not be a problem. As a matter of fact it will be my winter project. Copper piping all over the place and integrated into my pool for continuous precision time keeping. I HAVE A PLAN. (I'm sure you appreciate that) You and Evie take care of all the necessary arrangements to purchase this wonderful unique piece and I will handle the shipping arrangements. You have plenty of time to give me this for Christmas. I'll even advise you when it's time for you to post so you'll never be late again. Dave you can't pass this up. EVIE SUPER COOL!!!!!
