Description

"Parachute? I didn't pack the parachute. I thought YOU were supposed to pack the parachute."
"YOU were supposed to pack it! Remember? I was down at the scrap yard, selling the landing gear that NASA said wasn't necessary."
"Idiot."
"I know you are, but what am I?"

You've no doubt heard that the Genesis space capsule carrying samples of solar wind particles crashed into the Utah desert today, at 193mph. It was supposed to be caught by the parachute, in midair, by a helicopter with a hook, flown by a Hollywood stunt pilot. Something went wrong. Sounds like something out of Hollywo.... oh, it was.

They meant to CATCH it mid air!! Well, who would have thought that idea wouldn't have worked. Makes it kinda hard to catch without a parachute. Great picture, great humor. I like the dazed way they are wandering around. And for some reason it reminds me of C3PO and R2D2 in Star Wars.

"One small step for man" etc. Hey, a banana skin under that woodentop's leading foot would have completed the picture for me. Very witty, and excellently depicted.

LOL! :-) (BTW, the capture method wasn't new -- they did it all the time for spy satellite film drops back in the 1960s and '70s, until digital photography made the film obsolete.)
